Valves and fittings for 130 years!
Kongsberg Esco AS is the only Norwegian manufacturer of valves, fittings and pipe sections used in the supply of water, and one of the largest in the Nordic countries. The company was established in 1877, under the name E. Sunde & Co. (from which the name “Esco” is derived). From the very outset, the company provided a wide range of products, in addition to fittings for water. The company was relocated to Kongsberg in 1964, where it focused on manufacturing water supply products. Our quality system received ISO 9001 certification already in 1994, and in 2000 we followed this up by certifying our environmental management system in accordance with ISO 14001. More than a 100 years experience in the market ensures our customers both an excellent service and products of the highest quality.
Management buyout of Danfoss Esco AS
The development, production and sale of water gate valves in Norway will be bought from Danfoss by the company’s management. Danfoss will remain the minority shareholder in the company. All of the 87 employees who work in production in Norway will continue to work in the new company. Until now, Danfoss Esco AS has formed part of Danfoss Water Controls.
“The management of Danfoss Esco AS wanted to sharpen the company’s focus on the core competencies and, at the same time, strengthen the service and products available to its customers. Danfoss agreed in principle to this development. However, since Danfoss prioritises differently within the water area, we are pleased that we have managed to reach an agreement whereby the management of Danfoss Esco AS can pursue its goals within its own business,” says Senior Vice President Jacques Chaize, head of Danfoss Water Controls.
Danfoss Esco AS has annual net sales of 150 million NOK. The company headquarters are based in Kongsberg, Norway, which is also where production is located.
“We are looking forward to the new opportunities that the new structure represents, and we are grateful that Danfoss has chosen to retain a small stake in the company, showing that the Group has trust in us at Esco,” says General Manager Jan-Frederik Ormåsen.
The management will take over Danfoss Esco AS on January 1, 2007.
